What is the project's aim?
The reasons for learning disadvantage can be manifold. In most cases, there areseveral factors in the personal and social environment: poor housing conditionsand thus a poor learning environment, poverty makes personal support by theparental home difficult, experiences with violence, drugs, debts, etc. block thepossibilities for concentration. All of this leads to lower self-esteem, lowermotivation and additional barriers to learning. Due to the usually multiple problems, individual support is necessary. Thus, teachers need special methodological and didactic competences. The focus ofthe methodology should be shifted from instructor to inclusive teaching coach. This includes, for example, methodological and didactic skills in the areas ofconflict and communication management, knowledge of motivational strategiesas well as expertise in individual support and lesson design.
Therefore, within the framework of the project, the partners willdevelop a modular Further Training to become a “Coach for InclusiveLearning Processes - iLEAP Coach" for teaching and training. The involved teachers and trainers will learn what learning processesare and how to define them. They learn how to communicate in atarget group-specific way, how to motivate disadvantaged youngpeople, how to involve them in cooperations and how they canaccompany them in their individual development. Within the framework of the trainings, they receive information oncommunication and conflict management and can offer or mediateassistance in difficult individual socio-economic situations.
